Stephan have you heard Pagans Mind's new release ?

I realize you don't keep up with many newer bands, but I think you might be interested in hearing this. Pagans Mind has a different musical direction than Vanden Plas, but the newest release "Enigmatic Calling" has some of the most incredible production work on it I have ever heard. The production is very slick and closer to maybe Boston, than a metal band, but it is something you might want to hear. The production is so clear, balanced, and polished I have a hard time listening to other bands after this one. Most sound muddy and unprofessional after listening to that. IIRC they are also with Limb publishing so it may be easy to get your hands on it.
I know this really isn't a question and I intended to e-mail this to you instead of posting it here, but I don't see a link to your e-mail address.

I got Enimatic: Calling a while back and, you're right Bryant, it is absolutely amazing!

I'd be curious to see how well they can reproduce it live though.

Nils (the vocalist) does use some effects on his voice, but he does find a way to really pull it off live. There are many bands I like, but I wouldn't mention a band in the "ask Vanden Plas" section of the forum if they weren't a truly elite band. Pagans Mind (as is Accept which I mentioned in another thread) is an elite band. They absolutely make awesome CDs and they come close to duplicaing it live.

Vanden Plas - Royal Hunt

Postby Cyaron » Tue Nov 29, 2005 1:30 pm

Since we're asking about this stuff, we've been talking about the new Royal Hunt on the SX list ... and apparently it's a real return to great musicianship after Eyewitness let us down a bit.

But anyway, on Paper Blood, John West has a bit more of a rough style and even besides that, it's reminding me of Vanden Plas a lot.

And this one song "Not My Kind" is SO F**KING COOL, man. They have a couple sounds that don't quite fit VP (the "chorus" sound, some of the keys), but besides that, this song pretty much embodies what I hope VP can put out. I hear little bits of their style all over this stuff.

Heaviness like Far Off Grace, vocal style like TGT or the some Kiss of Death, and a bit of the neoclassical hints like in Beyond Daylight. With something else that I haven't heard anywhere yet as well.

Anyway, I guess it's a bit late now, but VP really needs to hear this. At LEAST the one song. They'll probably like it a whole lot even if it's on a different path from their new CD.

That is good Stephan. Maybe Vanden Plas and Pagans Mind will tour together one day or something. They are friendly guys just like all of ya'll in Vanden Plas as well.
Most of those guys are in their twenties though. That is hard to believe. They have a mature sound. Maybe when they get older they will be as handsome as you and me huh ? Ha ha ha.
Btw.... talking about age. Congrats on you "tying the knot." That is an American term for getting married. You aren't too old for a kid. We need a little Stephan Jr. and a Stephanie. I have an 8 month old and you and I are the same age. Are you planning to have children ?
